Zimbabwe Saints, affectionately known as Chikwata, have appointed Philani "Beefy" Ncube as their head coach for the 2025 season, as the club continues its mission to revive its legacy and return to the Premier Soccer League.

Club chairman Tawanda Ruzive confirmed Ncube's appointment on Tuesday, announcing that the seasoned coach had already begun work on Monday, leading training sessions at Njube Ground. Ncube replaces Roger Ndlovu, who has departed the club for new challenges.

"We are happy to announce the arrival of Philani Ncube as our head coach. He is not new to the club and brings a wealth of experience," Ruzive said. "After reviewing several resumes from highly qualified candidates, we settled for Beefy. He brings excitement and hope, and we believe he can guide us back to the Premier Soccer League."

Ruzive expressed optimism for the future, highlighting a renewed sense of unity and purpose within the club. "There is an air of hope and unity at Zimbabwe Saints. Everyone is investing positive energy into this journey, and we are confident that united as we are, we will push until we achieve our goal of Premiership promotion," he said.

The chairman emphasized the club's commitment to supporting Ncube in assembling a competitive squad. "Appointing a coach is one step, but providing him with the necessary support is just as crucial. Saints is a brand that belongs in the top flight, and we are determined to see that happen."

Ruzive also extended gratitude to the Mugadza family for donating a bus to the club, a gesture he said was rooted in decades of support for Zimbabwe Saints. "The Mugadzas have been associated with Zimbabwe Saints since the 1950s. Their generosity, including this bus donation, reflects the love and team spirit that should inspire everyone connected to the club," Ruzive said.

Ncube, a seasoned coach with a wealth of experience in Zimbabwean football, is no stranger to the Saints. He most recently coached Arenel last year, taking over midseason. Now, he faces the challenge of rebuilding the team and spearheading their push for promotion to the Premier Soccer League after over a decade in the lower divisions.

While Ncube could not be reached for comment as he was conducting training, his appointment has already generated excitement among Saints supporters, who are eager to see the club reclaim its place in top-flight football.

With renewed energy, strong leadership, and the support of stakeholders like the Mugadza family, Zimbabwe Saints are determined to bring the glory days back to one of Zimbabwe's most historic football institutions.
