A 33-year-old man from Silobela has been arrested after a revenge attack he orchestrated led to the fatal stabbing of a fellow villager at Msilahobe Business Centre last week.
Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed that police in Silobela are investigating the murder, which occurred on Thursday around 10 PM.
"It is alleged that the suspect, Pardon Ncube (33) of Nduku Village, was with his wife and son when he had an altercation with Bekhithemba Tshuma, the now deceased," said Insp Mahoko.
During the confrontation, Tshuma and his associates allegedly assaulted Ncube and damaged his vehicle's windscreen with bricks. Ncube then drove home but later mobilised a group of friends, identified as Nelly Msipa, Xolani Msipa, Dho Msipa, Prosper Ndlovu, and Pardon Ndlovu, to retaliate.
The group returned to Msilahobe Business Centre in search of Tshuma and encountered him walking with another individual. They attacked him, and one of them fatally stabbed him with a knife.
Tshuma's lifeless body was later discovered by a passerby lying in a pool of blood.
"ZRP Silobela attended the scene and has so far arrested Ncube. He remains in police custody and is awaiting his initial court appearance," added Insp Mahoko.
Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have urged communities to resolve disputes peacefully rather than resorting to violence.
