Bogus cop jailed 45 years for rape

A bogus cop Patrick Vashco (25) was sentenced to 45 years in jail after he raped a maid three times without protection.

The Glendale based rapist was jailed by Bindura regional magistrate Elisha Singano.

Prosecutor Edward Katsvairo told the court that on April 10, the complainant, who is a maid, was sent by her employer to collect a parcel at Glendale terminus.

The maid was given the employer's mobile phone for easy communication.

While at the Glendale bus terminus, she lost her mobile phone and started crying.

Vashco saw her and asked why she was crying. He was told that she had lost the employer's phone.

He impersonated a police officer and told the complainant that he wanted to take her to the police station to record her statement and she agreed.

On their way he dragged the maid in the bush and raped her once without protection.

The bogus cop assaulted the complainant and threatened to kill her and forced marched her to a nearby bush along Shamva - Harare highway and raped her twice.

He then took her to a bar where he wanted to drink beer while in the bar the complainant informed the bar lady about the rape and a police report was filed leading to the arrest of Vashco.
