A man has been implicated in a $2.5 million fraud case involving an alleged scheme to sell a game park in Masvingo without authorization.

Samuel Mvurume appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa but was not asked to plead. He is accused of being part of a gang that attempted to defraud Gelswa (Pvt) Ltd, a registered company that owns a conservancy located at Lot 2 of Bompost, Masvingo. The game park in question spans approximately 910,499 acres.

Mvurume's suspected accomplices, Keegan Diamond and Tawona Mutepfa of Sky Ryan Properties, appeared in court over the weekend in connection with the case.

Court documents reveal that on May 13, the trio allegedly conspired to defraud Gelswa (Pvt) Ltd by fraudulently obtaining key documents related to the game park, including a deed of transfer and a share certificate registered in the name of Emmanuel Gumbo.

The accused are said to have misrepresented themselves by falsely claiming that the game park was up for sale by the complainant company. They allegedly instructed an assistant, Charity Chakombeka, to arrange the logistics for the sale.

Keegan Diamond reportedly advertised the property on social media platforms, offering it for sale, while Mutepfa purported that his employer, Sky Ryan Properties, was acting on behalf of Gelswa (Pvt) Ltd in the transaction.

The scam was exposed on June 4 when Emmanuel Gumbo discovered the unauthorized advertisement of his company's property. Gumbo expressed surprise over how the trio had obtained the game park's documents and raised concerns about the potential loss, which amounts to $2.5 million.

The matter remains before the courts as investigations continue.
