Highlanders and Warriors midfielder Mason Mushore is on the verge of a possible move to Europe, with a trial stint lined up in the Czech Republic - a move that could mark a significant step in the young midfielder's blossoming career.

Mushore's agent, Gilbert Sengwe, confirmed the development, though he declined to name the specific Czech club. He revealed that the visa application process is at an advanced stage, with only final approval from the embassy now pending.

"We are still processing the matter. He is supposed to go to the Czech Republic, but it's too early to divulge the name of the club for now," said Sengwe. "We're 99% done with the paperwork requirements. We are just waiting for the visa to be out. When he gets there, then we can start talking."

If the deal materialises, tomorrow's much-anticipated Bulawayo derby against Chicken Inn at Barbourfields Stadium could be Mushore's final appearance in Bosso colours.

Highlanders spokesperson Nozibelo Maphosa confirmed that the club would issue an official statement on the midfielder's future in due course.

Meanwhile, Chicken Inn are brimming with renewed confidence ahead of the clash, buoyed by their recent 1-0 victory over Ngezi Platinum Stars at Luveve Stadium - their first home win in a largely disappointing season that has seen them notch just three wins from 16 matches.

Gamecocks coach Joey Antipas is hopeful the morale-boosting result will galvanise his side for the derby.

"We are just hoping that the result will give us a lift," Antipas said. "We just have to keep on working hard at training. All we have to do is stay cool and work hard."

Chicken Inn go into the derby with a psychological edge, having dominated Highlanders in recent seasons. Bosso last beat the Gamecocks in a league match back in 2019. The two sides played to draws in 2022, while Chicken Inn collected four points from Highlanders in 2023, including a 2-0 win in September.

In their most recent encounter in April 2024, Chicken Inn secured a 2-1 victory before settling for a goalless draw in August.

As the first half of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season concludes this weekend, both clubs will be eager for a strong finish - Highlanders hoping to stabilise amid off-field developments and Chicken Inn eyeing crucial points to escape the relegation threat.
