Former Zanu-PF national political commissar and minister Saviour Kasukuwere has sharply escalated his criticism of local business tycoon Kudakwashe Tagwirei following Tagwirei's public accusations labeling Kasukuwere as corrupt.
The exchange unfolded in Bulawayo yesterday, with Kasukuwere responding on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) in a post that left little doubt about his stance.
"A good fraudster is not necessarily a good politician. Trying to turn a thief into a leader is the ultimate betrayal of the revolutionary party by a reactionary leader. The game has begun and that rimming mouth will not be opened again," Kasukuwere wrote.
The ongoing feud signals deepening tensions within political and business circles, with Kasukuwere positioning himself as a staunch opponent of Tagwirei's rising influence in Zanu-PF. Tagwirei, who has been under scrutiny for alleged corrupt dealings, has been accused by some political figures of leveraging his business clout for political advancement.
The bitter war of words between the two men is drawing significant public attention as Zimbabwe continues to grapple with issues of corruption and political power struggles ahead of key national elections.
