A Harare lawyer, Nyasha Pamela Timba, has taken her ex-husband, Alexius Munyanda, to court for allegedly failing to pay maintenance arrears totaling US$8 020, despite prior court orders. Timba, an employee at Devitte Rudolph and Timba Legal Practitioners, claims Munyanda, managing director of Parkview Packaging, has neglected his financial obligations to their children.
Munyanda appeared in court last week and has been remanded in custody, awaiting a bail ruling. Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje stated that on August 15, 2025, the Harare Magistrates Court ordered Munyanda to cover various expenses, including US$1 100 for Heritage School application and registration fees, US$1 945 in school fees for one child, US$1 100 monthly for occupational and speech therapy, and US$3 870 in school fees for another child for the third term of 2025 and subsequent terms.
The State alleges Munyanda has failed to meet these obligations, accumulating arrears of US$8 020. In addition, he faces charges of breaching a prior court order that barred him from verbally and physically abusing Timba.
According to the prosecution, on September 9, 2025, at Borrowdale Police Station, Munyanda allegedly pushed Timba's hand while she was holding a cellphone and verbally abused her, threatening her life. He reportedly said: "You will regret this. Uchandiona. This will end in a mess, mark my words. Ndichakukuvadza, hazvipere pasina ropa (I will harm you; this won't end without blood). I have paid the police $500, so there's nothing you can do to me."
The prosecution further claims Munyanda threatened to harm Timba upon his release from custody, warning she would regret having him arrested.
