Milton High teacher faces disciplinary hearing
2 hrs ago | 5 Views
A Milton High School teacher, Tyson Lunga, who was recently cleared by the courts of several sodomy charges, is now set to appear before the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's disciplinary committee on 22 September.
Lunga is facing charges of improper association with learners, in line with ministry regulations. The Ministry's Director of Communications and Advocacy, Taungana Ndoro, confirmed the scheduled hearing. "His date of hearing is on September 22," he said.
The teacher has been on suspension since the allegations surfaced in May. He had been accused of indecently assaulting several students and allegedly buying their silence with cash and food, including burgers. Court documents outlined claims that he tried to entice learners with money, meals and flashy items.
Lunga was arrested in June after students, with assistance from a fellow staff member, reported the matter to the police. He was granted bail while the case proceeded through the courts, but was later acquitted.
Despite his court clearance, the ministry will now determine whether his conduct violated professional standards under its code of regulations.
