The ZANU-PF succession struggle has taken a sharp turn as corruption allegations intensify between President Emmerson Mnangagwa's camp and that of his deputy, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.

In the latest twist, outspoken former legislator Temba Mliswa, a relative of Mnangagwa, accused Chiwenga of corruption and of facilitating Chinese plunder of Zimbabwe's resources. In an audio rant, Mliswa questioned the source of Chiwenga's wealth, suggesting links to the missing US$15 billion in Chiadzwa diamond revenues during the period when Chiwenga was Commander of the Defence Forces and Mnangagwa served as Defence Minister.

The attack comes in response to Chiwenga's presentation of a corruption dossier at a recent ZANU-PF politburo meeting. The dossier, delivered in Mnangagwa's presence, reportedly named figures aligned to the President's faction, deepening the hostility between the two camps.

Amid the escalating feud, Mnangagwa has reportedly cancelled all foreign trips, including his planned attendance at the United Nations General Assembly, after learning that corruption dockets targeting his allies had been prepared and arrests could be imminent once he leaves the country.

The intensifying accusations underscore how corruption has become the defining battlefield in the ruling party's succession wars.
