Political commentator and X (formerly Twitter) user Snowball Tongogara has called for an end to what he describes as "propaganda" targeting businesspeople aligned with Zimbabwe's ruling party, ZANU-PF.

In a strongly worded post, Tongogara argued that in any democracy, freedom of association is fundamental — and that choosing to work with the party in power is both strategic and visionary.

"In any democracy, the right to freedom of association is sacrosanct. Aligning with the party in power is not only strategic, it's smart. History and global trends show that visionary entrepreneurs often work hand-in-hand with governments to drive development," he wrote.

Tongogara cited global examples, including Elon Musk's reported support for U.S. President Donald Trump, to illustrate how political alignment can unlock opportunities for national transformation.

In Zimbabwe, he said, several prominent businessmen have aligned with ZANU-PF not out of blind loyalty, but because they believe in the party's developmental agenda.

On Dr. Kudakwashe Tagwirei, Tongogara described him as a key figure in Zimbabwe's energy and mining sectors.

"His contributions to national infrastructure and economic empowerment are undeniable. His alignment with the party reflects his commitment to national development," he posted.

He also praised Sir Wicknell Chivhayo for his philanthropy and ICT investments, noting his recent donation of luxury vehicles and cash to ZANU-PF provincial chairpersons as a gesture of support for grassroots empowerment and the party's Vision 2030 agenda.

Regarding Dr. Paul Tungwarara, Tongogara said the Special Advisor to the President has disbursed substantial funds to ZANU-PF wings to uplift communities and promote inclusive development.

On Scott Sakupwanya, Tongogara highlighted his role as a gold magnate and Member of Parliament for Mabvuku-Tafara, citing his investment in a free medical centre for his constituency.

"His affiliation with ZANU-PF is rooted in his desire to bring tangible change to his community. Let's be clear, aligning with the ruling party is not corruption, it's strategy. These businessmen are leveraging their influence to support national goals, create jobs, and uplift communities. Instead of tearing them down, we should be asking: What are we doing to build Zimbabwe?" Tongogara posted.
