A British family has captured global attention after revealing their decision to leave the United Kingdom for a new life in Zimbabwe - a move they say has brought them peace, happiness, and balance.
Nat, a mother who runs the TikTok account @naturallyfakemum, shared in a viral video how she and her family decided to relocate to Zimbabwe after feeling overwhelmed by the fast-paced and costly lifestyle in the UK.
Between long work hours, rising living costs, and barely any time with her children, Nat said life in Britain had become "a stressful way of life."
"I would drop my kids off at school, head straight to the bakery where I worked, and then bring them back to my job after school," she said. "We realised our lives were revolving around work, and we were missing out on what truly matters - family."
Her husband, who grew up in Zimbabwe, often reminisced about his carefree childhood - days spent playing outdoors, visiting lakes, and enjoying a close-knit community. With much of his family still living there, the couple decided to take the leap.
Nat sold her bakery business, and the family bid farewell to what they once thought would be their "forever home" in the UK. Eighteen months later, she says the move has been life-changing.
"We've truly settled into our new life here. The weather is amazing, the food is fresher, and we have so much more time as a family," Nat said.
Her children are thriving too, spending more time outdoors and embracing a more active, community-centred lifestyle.
However, the family's decision has divided social media users.
One commenter questioned the move, writing: "I don't get it - is the UK not better than Zimbabwe? Why is everybody dying to get to the UK then?"
Others, however, praised the decision, highlighting Zimbabwe's warmth and quality of life.
"Food in Zimbabwe is fresh and organic, the schools are among the best you can find, and traditional values still matter," one person wrote. "It's safe, friendly, and children can just be children."
Another added: "Zimbabwe is beautiful - the lifestyle is unmatched."
For Nat and her family, the decision to leave behind the hustle of the UK was not about wealth or status - but about choosing a slower, more meaningful way of life.
