The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have published a list of 301 motorists in Bulawayo who were caught violating traffic regulations by driving through red lights, as the Electronic Traffic Management System (ETMS) steps up enforcement of road rules.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi sometime in 2025 noted that the system is currently operating at limited capacity in Bulawayo but is undergoing upgrades that will soon provide more detailed information on traffic offenders.
The upgraded system in Harare, by contrast, now automatically records both the offender's national identity number and the registered vehicle owner's information, allowing authorities to act swiftly against violators.
Since the ETMS was launched, the ZRP has recorded over 20,000 vehicles violating traffic rules nationwide, with lists of offenders being released in batches.
Police have urged motorists or institutions with vehicles on the published list to report to the nearest police station and fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations.
The rollout of the ETMS is part of a broader government effort to improve road safety and reduce traffic accidents, with authorities warning that violations will continue to be closely monitored.
