In a real-life comedy twist that proves truth can be funnier than fiction, celebrated comedian Leroy "Comic Elder" Zaware drove away from State House yesterday with more than just punchlines - he left with a brand-new Ford Raptor, US$10 000 in cash, and a fully furnished house, all courtesy of a President who keeps his word.

The joyous moment followed Comic Elder's recent triumph at the inaugural Youth Symposium, where he scooped the Best Comedy Award and cheekily asked President Emmerson Mnangagwa for his address to collect the promised car.

Yesterday, that punchline came to life.

Accompanied by his proud parents, Comic Elder arrived at State House in his trademark comic attire - a checkered shirt, oversized trousers, and his iconic giant red bag. Waiting to receive him were President Mnangagwa, First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, and Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training Minister Tino Machakaire.

The atmosphere was light and filled with laughter. Dr Mnangagwa was first to greet the comedian, who wasted no time pulling out his trademark wit.

Asked what he kept in his enormous red bag, Comic Elder quipped, "This is where I keep my driver's licence. Yes, it's deep, but it's in there."

When the President unveiled the sleek black Ford Raptor, Comic Elder's eyes widened in disbelief. Yet in a twist befitting a seasoned comedian, he stunned everyone by handing the keys to his father.

"I won't be driving this car today, Your Excellency," he said proudly. "My father will drive it home."

The laughter continued as he joked about his new US$10 000 cash prize, declaring he would finally buy an iron. "The belt is still okay," he added, "it just needs a few touch-ups at the back."

But the surprises didn't end there. Special Presidential Investment Adviser Dr Paul Tungwarara announced an additional gift - a house for the young entertainer.

A visibly moved Comic Elder thanked President Mnangagwa and the nation, pledging to use his platform to raise awareness against drug abuse and inspire other young Zimbabweans.

Before leaving, he couldn't resist one final gag - requesting a military escort for his new ride.

As the Ford Raptor roared out of State House with Comic Elder's father at the wheel, it was more than a comedian's dream come true - it was a moment of laughter, gratitude, and proof that sometimes, the best rewards in life come with a smile.
