HARARE - ZANU-PF Secretary for Security in the Politburo, Tendai Chirau, and rising musician Ngwere Diki have commended First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa for spearheading the establishment of drug and substance abuse rehabilitation centres across Zimbabwe.

Speaking at Gwanzura Stadium in Highfields during ZANU-PF's second inter-district engagement and post-conference update meeting (Zone 2), Chirau reiterated the party's firm stance against drug trafficking and abuse.

"During our annual conference in Mutare, we resolved that anyone found supplying drugs should be arrested and rot in jail," Chirau said.

He praised Dr Mnangagwa's initiative as a vital intervention to help addicts recover and reintegrate into society, describing drug suppliers as perpetrators of social harm.

"Supplying drugs is equivalent to murder. Our revolutionary party will not tolerate it," he added.

Musician Ngwere Diki echoed the sentiment, urging the arts and entertainment industry to unite against drug peddling, which he said has undermined the viability of creative professions.

"We call on all stakeholders to support our fight against drugs. The industry is suffering, and we must act," Diki said.

Harare provincial political commissar Voyage Dambuza highlighted the power of music in combating drug abuse, noting its ability to educate, inspire, and reach diverse audiences.

"Music speaks, teaches, evokes memory, and addresses the ills ravaging our communities," Dambuza said.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on provinces to mobilise resources to support the rollout of rehabilitation centres, reinforcing the national commitment to tackling the drug crisis.
