Buhera South Member of Parliament Ngonidzashe Mudekunye has been dragged to court after allegedly assaulting a female security guard at Birchenough Bridge.

Mudekunye is expected to appear at the Chimanimani Magistrates’ Court for the assault of Prettymore Kasiya.

According to State papers, on 18 January Mudekunye arrived at Birchenough Bridge driving his vehicle and ordered Kasiya to allow a truck behind him to pass without the required weighbridge documents. When Kasiya refused, Mudekunye allegedly became furious and assaulted her with open hands.

Kasiya was left bleeding and in pain. She filed a police report, leading to Mudekunye’s arrest. He was detained by Mutare police while in leg irons.

Mudekunye is no stranger to controversy, with a history of disrupting party events that do not favour him and allegedly assaulting people in Buhera.
