Police have arrested several suspects for unlawful possession and cultivation of dangerous drugs following a coordinated operation carried out in different parts of the country.
Zimbabwe Republic Police national spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the law enforcement agency remains resolute in its fight against drug and substance abuse, warning that there will be no safe haven for drug dealers and traffickers.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that the fight against drug and illicit substance peddling and trafficking will continue for the safety and security of Zimbabweans," he said.
On February 15, 2026, police in Plumtree intercepted a Toyota Quantum vehicle and arrested Msawenkosi Ndlovu (49) and Vengai Chawa (41) for the unlawful possession of large quantities of cough syrup. Authorities seized 5 124 bottles of 100ml Bron Cleer cough syrup and 4 170 bottles of 100ml Astra Pain cough syrup, with the illicit stock valued at approximately US$80 000.
On the same day, police in Hwedza arrested Emanuel Busemani (28) at Plot 7 Investment Farm in Melfort, Goromonzi, for the unlawful cultivation of dagga.
In Bubi, Lacken Tshuma (55) and Owner Muleya (32) were detained on February 16 at Inunwa Ranch for similar offences.
Earlier, on February 13, Tinashe Mero Shoko (22) and Elliet Badza (35) were arrested at a house in Garikai, Dulibadzimu, for the unlawful possession of 100 kilogrammes of dagga, highlighting the widespread nature of illicit drug activities.
Nyathi urged members of the public to continue co-operating with law enforcement agents by reporting suspected drug-related activities.
"We call on the public to provide information on drug lords, dealers, and criminal syndicates involved in drug and substance abuse," he said.
The police encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities through the national complaints desk, saying recent seizures and arrests reflect a co-ordinated strategy targeting drug trafficking networks, illegal cultivation and possession of controlled substances.
