The Zimbabwe Republic Police have dismissed social media claims suggesting they issued a statement indicating that Joachim Chivayo is wanted in South Africa, describing the circulating post as fake.

The false statement, shared on X (formerly Twitter), alleged that Chivayo — identified in the post as the ZANU‑PF Harare Province deputy secretary for information and publicity and known as “G6” — was being sought by South African authorities. It further claimed that the ZRP had expressed concern over the matter.

However, police refuted the claims through their official X account.

“The ZRP advises the public that the police has not issued any statement concerning Joachim Chivayo or any member of the Chivayo family. The statement circulating on social media is therefore fake and false,” the police said.M“It has nothing to do with the ZRP. The law will take its course on individuals or groups spreading false information and committing criminal acts by issuing false statements.”
