Former Castle Soccer Star of the Year Stewart Murisa has clarified that he is not related to highly rated London-based teenager Teashaun Murisa, who has signed his first professional contract with English Premier League log leaders Arsenal.

Teashaun, a 17-year-old right-back born in the United Kingdom to Zimbabwean parents, is eligible to represent Zimbabwe and is regarded as one of the promising talents emerging from Arsenal's academy system.

Social media speculation had suggested that the youngster was the son of Stewart Murisa, the former Darryn T, CAPS United, Dynamos, Highlanders and Bidvest Wits forward, who is now based in the United Kingdom after attempting a coaching career.

Speaking from England, Stewart Murisa said he had been taken aback by the claims circulating online. He confirmed that Teashaun is not his son and that his only child, Stewart Jr, has since stopped playing football.

"I am happy for Teashaun's progress being a football person but he is not my son. Stewart Jr is my only son. He once played football but he has now stopped. A lot of people have been phoning me endlessly, wanting to know if Teashaun is my son. Let me clarify that the boy is not my son. I only have Stewart Jr," he said.

Teashaun's professional deal formalises his place within Arsenal's development pathway and positions him for possible elevation to higher youth levels and potentially the senior squad. Earlier in 2025, he was among academy players invited to train with the first team ahead of a UEFA Champions League fixture, a move seen as a sign of the club's growing confidence in his ability.

Primarily featuring for Arsenal's Under-18 side, Teashaun has demonstrated versatility, having previously operated in midfield before settling at right-back. Youth observers describe him as technically sound, effective in breaking up play and composed in possession.

His progress is also being closely followed in Zimbabwe, where he is viewed as part of a new generation of diaspora talent that could potentially strengthen the Warriors in the future.
