A total of 144 Zimbabwean accounting and finance professionals have earned the globally recognised Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants has announced.

The graduates were honoured at a convocation ceremony held in Harare on April 29, 2026, marking their successful completion of CIMA's CGMA Professional Qualification.

Speaking at the event, CIMA Zimbabwe Country Director Gordian Bowa said the designation represents a blend of technical expertise and strategic capability.

"The CGMA designation reflects technical competence, commercial acumen and the ability to drive long-term value creation," Bowa said, adding that recipients are well-positioned to contribute meaningfully to both their organisations and the broader economy.

CIMA Vice President for Africa Tariro Mutizwa described the achievement as a testament to dedication and perseverance.

"This milestone underscores sustained effort, resilience and a strong commitment to professional excellence," Mutizwa said.

The CGMA qualification offers flexible entry pathways, allowing school leavers to begin at certificate level while graduates can enter directly at professional stages. Candidates are required to complete both rigorous examinations and relevant practical experience to attain the designation.

Founded in 1919, CIMA is the world's largest professional body of management accountants, with members and candidates in more than 150 countries. It is also a founding member of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, which represents over 580,000 professionals worldwide.
