Former Zimbabwe international Willard Katsande has resigned from his role as head coach of Rangers Football Club just two months into his first coaching stint.

Katsande, who recently transitioned from playing to coaching, had taken charge of the team for seven matches in the Northern Region Soccer League. His appointment had been viewed as a significant step in his post-playing career, with expectations that his experience would positively influence the club.

However, his tenure has come to an abrupt end after he stepped down, citing several challenges that made it difficult for him to continue.

In his resignation letter, Katsande highlighted non-payment of his salary as a key issue, indicating that he had not received remuneration since assuming the role. He also raised concerns over unsuitable living conditions, which further complicated his stay.

During his brief spell in charge, Katsande recorded one win, four draws and two losses, leaving Rangers in 18th position on the log, just above the relegation zone.

His departure underscores the ongoing challenges faced by lower-division clubs, particularly around financial stability and working conditions for technical staff.
