Lifestyle entertainment brand Doek and Slay has postponed its May 3 event scheduled for the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Main Arena, citing the unavailability of its requested headline act.
In a statement addressed to fans, particularly "Bulawayo queens," the organisers apologised for the delay and said the decision was made to avoid delivering a substandard experience.
"To our Bulawayo queens, we're truly sorry," the organisers said. "We've made the difficult decision to postpone our event that was scheduled for May 3 at the ZITF Main Arena."
The team acknowledged disappointment from supporters but said the pressure to improve the experience had influenced the move.
"This is our 10th time in the City of Queens. The bar has been set higher. We've heard your feedback loud and clear: the line-up needs to be fire and you're right," they said.
The organisers explained that the postponement was triggered by the unavailability of a key performer previously requested by fans.
"Due to unexpected challenges, the main act you requested isn't available for our proposed date," the statement read. "We refuse to give you anything less than the unforgettable experience you deserve."
They assured ticket holders that all purchases remain valid for the rescheduled event and will not require re-purchase.
"Your tickets will remain 100% valid for the new date, even though they say May 3," the statement said.
The organisers added that negotiations with alternative artists are underway, promising a stronger line-up upon return.
"We're in the lab right now negotiating with other artists you suggested… when we come back, we're bringing heat," they said.
The brand also thanked its audience for ongoing feedback, saying it helps shape the direction of the event series.
"As always, we sincerely appreciate your unfiltered constructive criticism," they said, adding that a new date will be announced once the line-up is finalised.
Despite the postponement, anticipation remains high among fans, with organisers promising a revamped showcase tailored to audience expectations in Bulawayo's growing entertainment scene.
