Dynamos head coach Genesis Mangombe says his side will lean on their familiarity with Barbourfields Stadium when they face Chicken Inn in a tightly anticipated Premier Soccer League clash in Bulawayo tomorrow.
Despite remaining unbeaten after nine matches, the Harare giants head into the fixture under pressure after three consecutive draws - including two goalless stalemates - which have seen them drop to fourth place with 17 points.
While Dynamos have impressed defensively, their lack of cutting edge in attack is beginning to raise concern among supporters of the "Blue Army."
Mangombe, however, insists the team is on the right trajectory, pointing to their ability to create chances and maintain defensive discipline.
"We are creating chances, which is also a major problem to many teams," he said. "But now it's for the players to have confidence and composure in front of goal."
Dynamos have yet to lose a match this season, but their inability to convert dominance into goals has become their most pressing challenge.
The match will be played at Barbourfields Stadium, a venue Dynamos have frequently used as a temporary home ground in recent seasons.
Mangombe believes that familiarity with the pitch and strong support from neutral fans in Bulawayo could work in their favour.
"When playing in Bulawayo, Barbourfields seems to be our favourite hunting ground," he said. "We are used to it and we have been posting good results when we play at BF."
He also expressed confidence in the atmosphere, noting that Dynamos traditionally enjoy strong travelling support in the city.
Opponents Chicken Inn FC come into the match struggling for consistency, sitting ninth on the table with 12 points and coming off back-to-back derby defeats against Highlanders and Bulawayo Chiefs.
Coach Tonderai Ndiraya, who joined the club after successful title-winning spells with Simba Bhora and Scottland FC, is still searching for stability in Bulawayo.
Recent history, however, favours the GameCocks, who have dominated the fixture in the last three meetings. Chicken Inn have won all three encounters against Dynamos, including a 3-0 victory in Bulawayo last season.
Dynamos' last win over the Bulawayo side dates back to November 2023.
For Dynamos, the match represents an opportunity to turn promising performances into results and reignite their title challenge.
For Chicken Inn, it is a chance to halt a worrying slide and ease pressure on their technical bench.
With both teams desperate for momentum, tomorrow's clash at Barbourfields promises to be a defining early-season test for two sides heading in contrasting directions.
