Truck driver arrested with over two tonnes of dagga

A 58-year-old truck driver has been arrested after he was allegedly found in possession of at least two tonnes of dagga at a truck stop in Southerton, Harare.
The suspect, identified as Tapson Ndou, was taken into custody on Tuesday following a police operation triggered by a tip-off.
According to reports, authorities received information indicating that a 30-tonne truck carrying a substantial consignment of dagga had entered Zimbabwe from South Africa.
Acting on the information, law enforcement officers intercepted the vehicle at a truck stop in Southerton and conducted a search. During the operation, police allegedly discovered at least two tonnes of dagga concealed within the truck.
Investigators say Ndou was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the presence of the suspected contraband.
He was subsequently arrested and is currently assisting police with ongoing investigations into the matter.
Authorities are expected to determine the origin and intended destination of the consignment as investigations continue.
Ndou is expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the alleged possession and transportation of dangerous drugs.
