The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has set the maximum retail price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for June 2026 at US$1.96 per kilogramme, while the local currency equivalent has been pegged at ZWG52.60 per kilogramme.
In a statement, the energy regulator said the prices were determined in accordance with the Petroleum (Liquid Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations, Statutory Instrument 90 of 2021.
"Stakeholders are advised that the LPG prices for June 2026 calculated according to the Petroleum (Liquid Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations 90 of 2021 are as follows: US$ price/kg – 1.96 and ZWG price/kg - 52.60," ZERA said.
The authority directed all LPG operators to prominently display the prescribed prices at retail outlets to promote transparency and improve consumer awareness.
"Operators are advised to display the prices at their retail outlets at a prominent place in clearly legible letters," the regulator said.
However, ZERA clarified that the announced prices represent maximum retail levels and that operators remain free to charge lower prices where commercial conditions allow.
"Please note that it is permissible to sell LPG at prices below the prescribed prices depending on one's trading advantages," the statement read.
The latest price review forms part of ZERA's ongoing regulatory oversight of the petroleum sector and its efforts to ensure fair pricing practices while protecting consumers.
Liquefied Petroleum Gas has become an increasingly important household and commercial energy source in Zimbabwe, particularly as consumers seek alternatives to traditional fuels and electricity during periods of power shortages.
ZERA urged stakeholders and members of the public to verify fuel price announcements through its official communication channels to avoid misinformation.
"Stakeholders are advised that the petroleum price releases by ZERA can be verified on the official ZERA website, Facebook, or Twitter handle," the authority said.
The monthly LPG price review is conducted under the regulatory framework governing petroleum products and is intended to reflect prevailing market conditions while ensuring stability in the supply and distribution of LPG across the country.
