Zanu PF's Manicaland Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) has recommended the suspension of Nyanga Central Committee member Moses Gutu over allegations of indiscipline after he publicly criticised Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3.

The recommendation was adopted during a Provincial Executive Committee meeting held at Mutare Teachers' College on Tuesday.

Provincial Commissar Albert Nyakuedzwa confirmed the development, saying the recommendation would be forwarded to the party's National Commissariat for consideration and further action.

According to party sources, Gutu is accused of openly campaigning against Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, a position that contradicts the ruling party's official stance.

It is understood that Gutu has been touring parts of Manicaland, publicly denouncing the constitutional amendment, with several videos of his remarks circulating widely on social media.

The videos reportedly prompted the provincial leadership to recommend his suspension pending disciplinary proceedings.

Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 has become one of the most contentious pieces of legislation in recent years. The Bill, which has now cleared Parliament and awaits presidential assent, extends the terms of the current Parliament and local authorities to 2030, increases future presidential and parliamentary terms from five to seven years, and changes the process of filling a vacancy in the Office of the President.

Gutu is no stranger to disciplinary action within Zanu PF, having previously faced party sanctions between 2015 and 2016.

The National Commissariat is expected to determine whether disciplinary proceedings will proceed following the recommendation from the Manicaland provincial leadership.
