Robert Mugabe faces court challenge

President Robert Mugabe and his new Zanu-PF leadership that came out of the party's December congress is set to be hauled before the courts to explain the contentious chain of events that culminated in not only a litany of purges, but elevations of quite a number of politicians as well.
Former party information czar, Rugare Gumbo, fired from the party in the weeks prior to the congress, yesterday piled more scorn on Zanu-PF confirming a court challenge would be mounted in the near future but discounted the formation of a splinter party for now.
He said they will take legal route and these people who have captured Zanu-PF illegally should be able to explain the chain of events, most of them ultra-vires the constitution, in a court of law.
With Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo unavailable for comment, it remained murky how the ruling party would respond to the court challenge.
