A BIRTHDAY party turned tragic for a 25-year-old Zimbabwean man who fell to his death after he was allegedly thrown out of a window from the third floor of a flat in Johannesburg, South Africa last Sunday night.
Farai Ncube from Bulilima District was allegedly thrown out of the window following a dispute over beer.
Ncube, according to his sister Yenzani who is also based in South Africa, had attended his friend's birthday party at the friend's apartment when he fell to his death.
Yenzani, however, said it was not yet clear whether Farai was pushed out of the window while alive or he was murdered and then thrown out.
"I received a message from Farai's friends telling me that my young brother had been killed. It appears that one of his friends was hosting a party at his flat on Sunday evening and there was a lot of beer.
"A misunderstanding arose over the manner in which the booze was being shared. Farai was involved in a fight with some of the people at the party and they ganged up and threw him out of the window," said Yenzani.
She said the people who murdered her young brother could not be identified as they fled from the party.
Yenzani said there was a lot of commotion after the incident and the assailants took advantage and disappeared from the scene.
Farai's mother, Maggy Ncube of Bhaladza area under Chief Kandana said she received the shocking news of her son's death on Monday morning.
She said it had been a couple of years since she last saw her son who was working in the neighbouring country as an electrician. She said her son moved from Botswana to South Africa about three years back and had never visited her since then.
"My daughter Yenzani told me about my son's death. What pains me is that I last saw him a couple of years ago and now I will have to see him in a coffin.
"He has a wife that he met in South Africa and a son but I have never met them," said Maggy Ncube.
She said the family was making efforts to collect her son's body from the neighbouring country for burial at their rural home.
