The Zimbabwe Electoral Commissioner Moyo Qhubani has come under fire after he posted on Facebook saying he does not see anything wrong about the national pledge.
Moyo had posted that he sees nothing wrong with the national pledge
"What's wrong with a national pledge?.Whose nation should one pledge to beside his own. Does not Zimbabwean citizenship come with pledges to the nation as provided in the constitution and is the national pledge not just a reminder of affirmation to the same? .So what is the hullabaloo about national pledge and how is it wrong?" he posted.
Melusi Mwinde said Mussolini used national pledges to brain wash children.
"People suspect we are copy and pasting like previous programs ie youth service, propaganda, use of gestapo , silence of critics and hero worshiping the leader etc...they have a good reason to fear," he said.
Felix Moyo said let those who want to pledge-pledge.
"It is my right as a citizen to avoid cheap Brain washing tactics that lead to dogma. I was born in Rhodesia and the black government I know has looked at ways of brainwashing the masses into believing their cheap hogwash. It is about time they also pledge to leave office and allow this country to move forward," he said.
Bruce Mahlangu asked as to how does pledging solve bread and butter issues.
"Isn't the national anthem enough," he said.
Qhubani Moyo also responded to their post saying, "I am very happy with the debate and fully respect the views expressed here in.My satisfaction derives from my ability to respect divergent views from mine without labelling or insulting those who do not see things my way."
"Am sure you will appreciate that it is a rare tenet of leadership which may have failed embrace..My view is that there is nothing wrong with the national pledge and others have a different view but that should not make us enemies to an extent of name calling. We should respect and celebrate the diversity of our views. After all its my post,in my wall, expressing my thinking and others can generate their own in their walls," he added.
Gary Thwala said that Moyo used his Facebook page was not that important but the truth was he was out of touch with reality and have joined the bootilickers club and thinks he can make everyone agree with him.
"We won't allow you to mislead people with lies the pledge is nonsense period!" he said.
Zenzo Ncube said, "Our priorities are very wrong. People have no food and all someone thinks of giving them is few sentences. There is no money in the banks, people have no jobs, roads are unusable. Authorities must pledge to fix things first."
Isaac Mupinyuri Moyo urged Moyo to at least try to go with national view side with majority to avoid disrespectful response from frustrated Zimbabweans who are having their time wasted when schools are going without books and children going to school hungry only for little energy wasted on singing useless poem.
"No no no Qhubani have common approach with many," he said.
