Multiple skin-cancer patient appeals for urgent medical assistance

Eight-year old Bridget Mandimutsira, a multiple skin cancer patient, is in dire need of assistance to access specialist treatment.

Last Thursday, Bridget woke up in a critical condition. Her parents, George and Benedict Mandimutsira on Friday contacted Mrs Elizabeth Tsvangirai, who for the past three years has been assisting the family in meeting the medical expenses for Bridget.

The two are not employed are struggling to meet the demands of Bridget's medical expenses. On Friday, while the police were bludgeoning people and causing chaos in the city, Bridget's parents were trying to negotiate their way in the melee to get immediate medical reprieve for their ailing daughter.

Liz Tsvangirai assisted them to get interim treatment for their lovely daughter at a Harare private hospital on Friday evening.

Liz Tsvangirai, who has been assisting the family, said there was need for urgent specialist treatment and it would help if people chipped in at this dire moment.

"She now needs specialist treatment. The family and I are now appealing for any assistance to enable Bridget to get specialist treatment abroad," Liz Tsvangirai said at the Harare infirmary where she had assisted the family to take Bridget for temporary medical reprieve.

The local doctors are now saying she needs specialist treatment abroad.
