A political analyst Vince Musewe has said considering the large abundance of gold deposits and other mineral resources in the country, there must be no one poor in Zimbabwe 36 years after independence.
He said there are 13 million tonnes of gold in the country.
"Our country Zimbabwe has an estimated 13 million tonnes of gold in ita belly. Over the last 36 years we have extracted a mere 586 tonnes. We have failed to unlock this wealth simply because we have lacked a national vision and nothing else," Musewe said.
"No Zimbabwean should be poor or go hungry or unemployed. We can indeed create a Singapore of Africa. For me politics is about leadership and unlocking our potential. Any political leader who cannot cast this vision should not be in politics they are wasting our time. My question is what and who are you voting for and why? Political personalities alone will not save us. We need a vision and a plan to lift Zimbabwe out of this rut. We can indeed reinvent Zimbabwe."
