Plumtree man axes friend in beer dispute

PLUMTREE - A drinking session at Ingwizi Business Centre in Mphoengs turned violent when a man allegedly struck his friend with a small axe during a dispute over beer.
Learmore Mphofu appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on Saturday facing an attempted murder charge. He was remanded in custody to 9 January.
According to prosecutor Sheila Nyathi, the incident occurred on 13 July while Mphofu was drinking with several friends. A misunderstanding reportedly broke out between Mphofu and 23‑year‑old Mlandeli Ncube over beer.
In a fit of rage, Mphofu allegedly pulled out a small axe and struck Ncube on the head.
Ncube's condition was not immediately disclosed, but Mphofu was arrested shortly after the attack.
