VICTORIA FALLS - AN inebriated 46 year woman was last week arraigned before the courts, after she allegedly bashed her 'polygamous' husband with a log on the forehead accusing him of being stingy.
Bherita Nyathi of Chinotimba high-density suburb appeared before a Victoria Falls Court and pleaded guilty to physical abuse.
The court heard that October 8 at 1am, Nyathi visited her husband Dubani Muleya (52) at his house in Chinotimba and asked for money to buy relish for their children and he revealed that he did not have it and promised to give her two days later.
A misunderstanding ensued between the two, resulting in Nyathi striking Muleya once on the forehead with a log.
Muleya was ferried to hospital and the medical report proved he had sustained a laceration and had internal bleeding.
Quizzed by the Court why she struck her husband Nyathi revealed that she was in a drunken stupor following a long night drinking spree.
"I then decided to pass by where he stays with his second wife to get my two-year-old that I had dumped days back, since he is not supportive and that was the time he told me to take the child and refused to give me the money," Nyathi told the Court.
She said as they were still arguing, he slapped her twice and she fell down and that was the time she picked a log and hit him on the forehead and he fell down unconscious.
Nyathi further revealed that her husband stopped supporting her and their seven children after he married another woman and he was denying her conjugal rights and she was bitter about it.
However, Muleya told the court that she married another woman because of his wife's violent nature which culminated into physical abuse.
