Rangers in the resort town of Kariba on Thursday warned residents to be wary of lions after a schoolgirl was injured as she fled a lioness, a conservation group said.
According to News24, twelve-year-old Blessing Seremwe was on her way to school on Tuesday when she saw the lioness in the Quarry area of Kariba.
Unconfirmed reports said the lioness may have been in the company of several other lions.
Kariba residents are particularly sensitive to rumours of lion sightings.
The Trust said: "Parks [rangers] will again be going out to the area 18 June to conduct awareness on situations like this."
It urged pedestrians to keep to designated roads "and not walk in the bush".
