With the presence of 9 schools, Mpopoma High School managed to outshine 8 schools leading it to land the second position, in a very challenging tournament.
Mpopoma was able to steam-roll past its major rival Mzilikazi High School beating it 5-1.
It then moved to walk over Premier High School, which they thrashed 5-0 with the captain and centre back unleashing most goals.
The series of victory highly motivated Mpopoma High which went on to play against Northlea High School, the hosts. The first half ended with a 2-2 draw, however, due to lack of concentration Mpopoma lost the game 3-2.
This defeat demotivated Mpopoma and its game against Milton High School was a goalless draw. With confusion and frustration Mpopoma's dream of being champions appeared to be over.
But they reignited the spark in the semi-finals playing against Sizane High School which proved to be a hard nut to break . After full time of playing Mpopoma got a hard won victory with a 2-1 win goal.
Mpopoma High School then qualified for the finals playing against Northlea High School, the game was "a game of death"as the boys were battling for the championship title. Unfortunately there has to be one winner, Mpopoma lost the game.
Though Mpopoma lost to Northlea High School, Mpopoma captain Munyaradzi still had some positive words to say "we are happy that we managed to reach the finals, compared to last year's performance."
