President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the right track

The ascendancy of Comrade Emmerson Mnangagwa to the President's post has sent a positive perception to the growth of the economy that has started showing signs of bouncing back as he starts laying down his policies and cutting down on government expenditures which have been a stumbling block to the smooth growth of the country's fiscal policy.

He is striking the right cord with just some few days in the office. It is back to serious business both in government and parliament.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa turned down the invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta, reportedly citing budget constraints and stating that there were very pressing matters regards the economic recovery of the country which needed.

If it was the former President he could have gone with his big entourage two days before the inauguration.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa says government has granted a three month amnesty for the return of illegally externalised funds and assets, with no questions being asked or charges preferred against them.

In a statement to ZBC news this afternoon, President Mnangagwa said the period of this amnesty stretches from the 1st of December 2017 to the end of February 2018.

"As a first step towards the recovery of the illegally externalised funds and assets, the government is gazetting a 3-month moratorium within which those involved in the malpractice can bring back the funds and assets, with no questions being asked or charges preferred against them"

He said affected persons who wish to comply with this directive should liaise with the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe for necessary facilitation and accounting.

"Upon the expiry of the three month window, the government will proceed to effect arrest of all those who would not have complied with this directive, and will ensure that they are prosecuted in terms of the country's laws," said President Mnangagwa.

By extending an olive branch to those people who have externalised money the President is creating a conducive environment for other business personnel who have fled the country citing poor security and political environment. The government must put into action and desist from crafting sound policies and failing to implement them.

Whenever there is a political stability in a country, there are possibilities of stimulating economic growth thereby creating more jobs and uplifting the peoples standards of living.

The President said the activities linked to Operation Restore Legacy have among other issues helped to uncover cases where huge sums of money and other assets were illegally externalised by certain individuals and corporates.

The President looks like he has inclined an ear to the wailing voices of the people. People have been brainwashed by the former President that he was the only person with smart brains to run the country.

Our economy was marred with myriad of policy inconsistent, corruption, abuse of funds and resources. The Anti Corruption Commision must be oiled and work 24/7 to prevent such embelzzement of funds. Such people who stifle the economy must be kept on guard.

Such economic saboteurs have no place in this new Zimbabwe, for they are not for the people but for personal glory and gains. We are expecting a paradigm shift from the way the country was being run. Rome was not built in a day. We should expect real job creation not the creation of vendors in our towns and cities. The industry should start kicking again. With the fabulous natural resources that we have as a country surely we can get Zimbabwe working again.
