President's Kariba visit preparations disheartening and reminds people of the old way of doing things

The first resident of our country lands into Kariba in the next week for the historical commissioning of the power supply generation expansion that has happened at the Kariba Power station. His coming has seen Kariba getting a face uplifting in most of the areas especially from the government departments. Of interest is the Ministry where roads fall under. The highways have been maintained and our own local authority has not been spared either. Recently Kariba was so alighted by the efforts to titivate most of the places with one Sunera Millar and company working passionately putting signage along our highways. This rhymed well with Municipality of Kariba who have now gone SADC compliant regards road signage.

Those that usually work in their offices and have failed our nation and our Kariba then today, yesterday and tomorrow woke up to redecorate the same places by destroying all the stakeholders efforts. One of our own had to stop and plead with the officials who were working destroying that unique green grass at Mica point turnoff but to no triumph.  "Why are we trying to make our town beautiful??? I am so angry. Ministry of transport this morning have destroyed the garden that I have been working on for 2 years for the Restoration Kariba project. They were very aggressive and wouldn't listen to reason. It was starting to look lovely and in time for Easter and tourist peak season. Broke my heart." Was all one of us could then excruciatingly cry.

Yes the President is coming, wants clear roads and also should see the beauty of our Kariba but hey, the reaction we witnessed is very much associated with panic common in Zimbabwe when the head of state will be coming. These evil servants always goes a notch up to impress by falsifying things drawing us backwards and portraying a scenario totally artificial and now they have thrown by day all the efforts by stakeholders who used own resources and time to be where we were because the government failed.  It is so disheartening. Agonizingly, the residents asked why they then should continue to waste time and money on these projects if this is the end result.

Now we are not sure if we are under a new dispensation with this old thinking in government departments. "Kariba are behaving exactly as they did under the naive aged former President Mugabe (may he surely enjoy his pension) - implementing cosmetic changes to hoodwink the president as if all is well. It is high time certain heads roll because people are sick and tired of officials not walking the talk," my good comrade who is passionate about beautiful Kariba and whose dream is having Kariba as the Ultimate Tourist destination could not mince his disenchantment.

Efforts to stop the destruction even by Ms Millar who went on site speaking to the guys working to advise of the situation would not help and the road works team would not stop to hear her pleas or stop to find out the story. With Easter right around the corner, Kariba could have showcased all stakeholders' efforts to visitors. "If beautiful houses could be destroyed, who then can spare the lovely flowers?" laughed one out of anger in reference to the past events ones witnessed in Zimbabwe. Another of my friends wrapped it up by saying "They do, Just not the kind of beauty we are all craving for. Chaos is their beauty. Ugly is their beauty. And they want us to believe that this is what the President wants. They are only carrying out orders, so they make us believe. However, the President does not know about this ugliness being carried out in his name." Let me not leave this classical utterance I picked describing what was witnessed " Kkkk its true these are the same id..t who vandalised our beautiful gardens @ AMC those days. Some things never change."

Welcome Mr President and as you see this artificial life that is less than two weeks old, hear our cries and stop these cowards from continuing to be pretenders and leave our own initiatives lives or they have to work the talk now and forever.
