The MTHWAKAZI Struggle entering a significantly defining moment
22 Nov 2016 at 10:23hrs | Views
In the early 2000s when the a few individuals and a few organisations came out and started articulating the Mthwakazi cause and the need for Mthwakazi to seek herself independence from Zimbabwe, many dismissed them as tribalists. So many were so alarmed that anybody normal could even contemplate another identity besides Zimbabwe. They slaughtered the idea as the deemed it too dangerous "Mugabe will kill them" was one of their mantra slogan.
Besides this onslaught the Mthwakazi proponents patiently remained resolute in the trenches, where they lacked support from the very people who they purported to represent. It seemed as if they knew that one day the tide will turn in their favour, if they knew they were prophetic for now the tide is in their favour.
Now the self-determination political spectrum in Mthwakazi has been occupied fully by those approaching self-determination from the left and those from the right and those from the centre. Many have come to accept that self-determination of Mthwakazi is not equivalent to tribalism nor hate for other tribes, but it is about love of Mthwakazi and a way of seeking to meet the needs of Mthwakazi people.
The Mthwakazi struggle is not against anybody but for all Mthwakazi citizens in their different ethnic groups.
The late 2000s saw a mushrooming of Mthwakazi political parties which suffered in three ways, first they lacked vibrant leaders; 2ndly they experienced infighting, and thirdly they suffered in membership. Some of these organisations were so immature that they mistook the Mthwakazi struggle as being against the Shona people.
In the beginning or late 2010s saw an emergence of ideologically sound organisations such as KMNC, which produced documents and shared with anyone out there who wanted to learn an enrich their ideological leanings.
Then slowly we started the emergence of pro-Mthwakazi pages on FaceBook; pro-Mthwakazi online websites; pro-Mthwakazi artists and writers and pro-Mthwakazi community organisations.
The political parties started working underground, mainly on the internet, they then became visible in the diaspora such as in the UK, USA and SA.
The MLO was started in Mthwakazi even though their activities were short-lived due to the Zimbabwean security apparatus hounding Siwela out of the country.
When the vacuum was created by Siwela running into exile, a young vibrant organisation emerged called Mthwakazi Republic Party, which operates right in Mthwakazi and in many effective ways.
The defining moment.
The defining moment I define it as a defining moment, it is up to you to appraise it in the positive or in the negative, for both could be defining moments. With this in mind, the Mthwakazi proponents should know that the cause is not out of the woods yet, firstly a solid base still needs to be built, the base is ripe and ready. Second, the enemy still needs to be engaged openly at every for a be it local, national and international. Third, the 2018 elections should be used as an organising tool and fourthly the demise of the King of Zwimba. This is the biggest moment which all Mthwakazi movements should be ready for, this is the opportunity which should never be missed to reverse all the ills which have been bedevilling Mthwakazi since 1893.
