TO THE ZAPU PARTY IN JHB
This letter from Durban Deep Disaster Committee and family members serves to express our greatest gratitude in view of your contribution towards this disaster which happened in Roodepoort mine. As Committee and family members, we would like to take this opportunity and thank you for the role you played in making this seemingly difficult situation a success.
We had your members (Watson Nkala, Patrick Matsinhanise, Jericho Ncube, and Raymond Mdlongwa among others) on days when news broke out that a disastrous situation had occurred in Roodepoort mine where young Zimbabwean miners were trapped inside which ultimately led to their death. Your members were supportive as they were always seen at the scene of the incident and interacting with us. They did not tire coming to the area of scene during rainy times or even during very hot weathers. We appreciated your support during the difficult time as we realized that we were not fighting this disaster alone. That comforted us a lot to say the least.
Your added coming on board financially was a milestone. You walked an extra mile by joining hands with ours in ensuring that the disaster did not defeat us but that we defeated it by inevitably succeeding in repatriating the deceased back home. Your contribution of about R10 000 as a party which we received, together with your members who were always with us indicates that not only were you contributing, but that you were part of the family. As we are aware that you are not a charity organization, we are therefore fully aware that you went out your way to ensure that the project did not turn out a failure. We appreciate your efforts and commend you for your determination.
As committee and family members, we therefore have no good or befitting words to describe and thank you to the equivalence of your work you undertook in making this project a success.
In view of the said above, we would therefore not tire in thanking you for what you did towards your fallen young fellow countrymen including their bereaved families. May your help spread to others who may happen to be in similar situations and may GOD BLESS YOU.
