Senong deal off

The Highlanders Football Club Annual General Meeting (AGM) is currently underway at the club's clubhouse, with members receiving the chairman's report amid key revelations about the club's technical direction.

Addressing delegates, the chairman confirmed that management conducted a comprehensive review of the technical team following a disappointing 2025 season, as part of efforts to improve on-field performance.

"After the conclusion of the 2025 season, management undertook a comprehensive review of the technical team as part of our efforts to improve performance," the chairman said.

He also confirmed that former coach Thabo Senong will not be joining the club, bringing clarity to weeks of speculation.

"Due to unforeseen challenges, the engagement of Thabo Senong could not be finalised and the club has since moved on," he said.

The chairman emphasised that the club's focus is now firmly on head coach Benjani Mwaruwari, whose appointment has already been announced.

"We are confident in Benjani Mwaruwari and will give him full support as we prepare for the new season," he added.

The AGM continues, with members expected to deliberate on financial, administrative and football-related matters as Highlanders map the way forward.
