MAMELODI Sundowns were on Tuesday night crowned South African Absa Premier Soccer League champions after walloping their city rivals SuperSport United 3-0 at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria.
On the same night Zimbabwe soccer legend Peter Ndlovu got praises from his head of technical department Pitso Mosimane. Sundowns' Mosimane was delighted with his charges after winning the much anticipated silverware.
The Brazilians won the championship after seven years of trying.
The former Bafana Bafana coach told Chronicle Sport: "I'm glad our hard work and faith has paid off at last. There was a time when the team was going through rough patches but our club president Patrice Motsepe told us that we must believe in ourselves and that motivated us a lot."
Mosimane praised his technical staff which has Ndlovu as team manager.
He said Ndlovu's valuable experience in the game had also been a key factor.
"The former English Premier League player Ndlovu who has played for Coventry for many seasons has brought some magic to the team. Ndlovu and the rest of the technical team were magnificent throughout the season. We supported one another to make sure Sundowns became the champions. I also want to thank Sundowns supporters for always rallying behind the team," Mosimane said.
He also praised his players for the good work and determination.
Sundowns scored their goals through veteran midfielder Surprise Moriri, PSL Player of the Year candidate Teko Modise who was instrumental throughout the season and Warriors striker Cuthbert Malajila.
Other Zimbabweans in the Brazilian team are Esrom Nyandoro and Khama Billiat.
