Warriors midfielder Ovidy Karuru has joined Absa Premiership glamour club Kaizer Chiefs on a three-year contract.
The skilful 25-year-old has been on a club hunting mission following an unflattering five-year stay in Europe where he turned out for French club US Boulogne (2009 to 2012), and Belgian outfit Oud-Heverlee Leuven (OH Leuven).
And after numerous reports linking him with a move to the Naturena outfit, Karuru finally put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Kaizer Chiefs yesterday along with South Africa's Phakamani Mngadi who joined the side on loan.
"Kaizer Chiefs is pleased to announce the signing of Ovidy Karuru on a 3-year deal previously of OH Leuven, Belgium. Phakamani Mngadi has joined Kaizer Chiefs on a 11-month loan from K.A.S. Eupen, Belgium," Kaizer Chiefs said on its official Twitter account.
"The two midfielders put pen to paper this morning, signalling the Club's intention going into the new season," the club added in a statement on its official website.
Karuru, a former Masvingo United and Gunners player, joins fellow Zimbabweans Kingston Nkhatha, Willard Katsande and Matthew Rusike at the former Absa Premiership champions who are set to compete in next year's edition of the CAF Champions League along with 2013/14 league winners Mamelodi Sundowns.
The versatile player, who can play on either wing or even in a playmaking role, has been training with Kaizer Chiefs since the club began pre-season training early June and featured in a number of pre-season friendlies for the club in the past month.
He could make his Kaizer Chiefs debut this Sunday when the Soweto giants take on Mpumalanga Black Aces in an MTN8 quarter-final at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
Meanwhile, Warriors striker Knowledge Musona is reportedly on his way back to Kaizer Chiefs after failing to attract any interest from European clubs.
Musona, who scored 16 goals for Amakhosi during a loan spell at the club last season, had been keen on a move back to Europe, but it now appears he could be re-signing for the Stuart Baxter-coached side who have maintained that they are keen to retain the services of the former Aces Youth Soccer Academy (AYSA) forward on a permanent basis.
Indications from South Africa are that Musona could seal the switch to Amakhosi by the end of this week.
