FORMER Highlanders striker Knox Mutizwa has been registered by Bidvest Wits for the new season quashing rumours of a loan move to a Tanzanian club. The 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League golden boot winner revealed that he will be donning jersey number 14 at his new home. Speaking after a 3-0 pre-season friendly match win over National First Division side Black Leopards played on Wednesday afternoon, Mutizwa said he was glad he would be staying at Wits.

"I am glad I have been registered for the new season and will be donning Jersey number 14. This gives me the confidence I needed so much and I am glad I have a brother in Cuthbert Malajila who has been guiding me through this journey," said Mutizwa.

In recent days there have been growing rumours linking Mutizwa with a loan deal to an unnamed Tanzanian club. Mutizwa also appealed to remaining Highlanders players to rise to the occasion and minimise the impact created by the departure of key players.

"I am worried my club (Bosso) has not been doing well in recent matches since my departure which was followed by Bruce Kangwa's move to Tanzania. Bruce was a key figure who could guide us through our careers but inevitably he has left and the challenge is on those remaining to rise to the occasion. "The next key player will come from the remaining players and it will take belief from some of them to rise which I believe it will be soon.

"I also urge the Highlanders players and fans to be patient until such a moment the club turns the corner," said Mutizwa. Meanwhile, Malajila has described Mutizwa as "a young player full of potential."

"In the few months I have been with Knox I have seen a young player full of potential. I am even confident he will scale new heights in football considering the energy he puts through," said Malajila. The South Africa soccer calendar gets underway on Tuesday.
