Rihanna's father spoke out in a puzzling interview in an upcoming issue of Heat magazine. Ronald Fenty, with whom the singer's has had a long and rocky relationship, praised her ex Chris Brown while putting Rihanna down.

Fenty was very vocal about one aspect of Rihanna's life: her weight.

"I actually thought she was a little fat the last time I saw her," he told the magazine of the singer's enviable curves, adding that "she's dieting, she's working out."

"When I saw her this time, I thought she was back to her normal size," he said of Rihanna's slender appearance at this year's Grammys.

"I used to joke with her, 'Robyn, you're getting too fat!' but I think she's fine. I think she looked excellent, as everyone saw, at the Grammys."

Soon after the interview went public, Rihanna, 24, took to Twitter and posted a topless photo to show off her impressive physique and her natural hair color.

It's not the first time the Barbados beauty has flaunted her looks online. During a vacation earlier this year, the singer tweeted photos of herself in a barely-there white bikini posing on an exercise machine.

In the interview, Fenty also spoke out about Rihanna's famous ex, Chris Brown.

"Chris is a nice guy, and everybody's entitled to make mistakes in their life," Ronald Fenty told the magazine. "God knows how many I've made."

Fenty and Rihanna were not on speaking terms as recently as 2010, and have only recently begun to communicate again.

A few months after Brown's brutal assault, the "We Found Love" singer revealed on ABC's "Good Morning America" that her father used to beat her mother when she was younger.

"Domestic violence is not something that people want anybody to know, so she would just hide it in the house," she said at the time. "I always said to myself, 'I'm never going to date somebody like my dad, never.'"

Of the brutal assault on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards, the songstress recalled that Brown, 22, "had no soul in his eyes" as he beat her and bit her.

Despite their turbulent past, however, Fenty didn't appear to have any qualms about the couple potentially getting back together.

"She's her own woman now," he said of her possible decision to reunite with Brown.

The duo, who are rumored to be seeing each other on the down low, have publicly denied that they are anything more than friends, though they recently collaborated on two sexually explicit tracks.
