HIGH-RIDING Zimbabwe-based sungura music ace Alick Macheso has been handed a golden opportunity to perform in Dublin, Ireland this coming October, at a music show which is expected to attract multitudes of Zimbabweans residing in the Northern Atlantic Island.

Bulawayo-born Smart Ndlovu of Testimony Entertainment Promotions the lead organizer of the show said the show is going to be one of the most exciting summer events hosted by his company since Macheso will be performing at place for the first time.

"This is a gig not to be missed," the experienced music promoter said in a WhatsApp interview from his Ireland base.

"We regard Macheso highly and we believe that as an experienced musician he will give music lovers value for their money."

"We therefore invite music fans from across Ireland, particularly Zimbabweans, to come and grace this event set for October 22," Ndlovu said.

"He (Macheso) is in demand and as such we expect him to deliver a top of the drawer performance. We have decided to bring him here (Dublin) because his latest album Tsoka Dzerwendo is on fire and everyone desires to listen and watch it live."

Ndlovu also said that his team was working flat out to ensure that the gig becomes of the best summer offerings this year.
"We are more than committed to make this gig a success," said Ndlovu.

"Right now my team is working on all the nitty-gritties to ensure the complete success of this show."

Although efforts to get a confirmation from Macheso and his publicity team were not successful until the time of publication, a close aide of the musician confided to us that "the sungura master was overly excited about the gig and was keeping it low until all is finalized".

Macheso has in the past  months been on cloud nine with his 10th studio album Tsoka Dzerwendo (Ayayaa) released in March last year which in addition to being a club-banger, has sold approximately 300 000 copies, a feat which no local musician has so far reached in terms of sales.

And many music analysts agree that this album is far much better than all Zimdancehall albums that have so far been released. Before the album, Zimdancehall music used to rule the roost in showbiz.

It is thus against this background that Macheso's Ireland gig is hyped to be the most successful this year. He will be accompanied by his 10-member band and is expected to unleash a live high-paced performance with scintillating songs from his albums including the sizzling Tsoka Dzerwendo.

The Tafadzwa hit maker's previous albums include Kwatakabva Mitunhu (Kure Kwekure), Zvinoda Kutendwa, Ndezvashe-eh, Vapupuri Pupurai, Zvido Zvenyu Kunyanya, Zvakanaka Zvakadaro, Simbaradzo,Vakiridzo and Magariro.
