South Africa-based Zimbabwean businessman Mutumwa Mawere has been appointed adviser and spokesperson of ousted Madagascar President Marc Ravalomanana.
Mawere said he is not moving around with exiled President Ravalomanana but agreed to assist him as adviser to facilitate his return home.
Ravalomanana was ousted in a coup in 2009 by former disc jockey and Antananarivo mayor Andry Rajoelina, and has been living in exile in South Africa since.
Mawere said he was on the plane with him (Ravalomanana) on the aborted trip to Madagascar. Recently, his plane was blocked after he attempted to re-enter the Indian Ocean island country. He confirmed that he is also his spokesman.
Mawere said he is assisting for no remuneration.
Mawere said a Sadc-brokered roadmap was in progress in Madagascar and had striking similarities with Zimbabwe's GPA which led to the increasingly shaky unity government between Zanu PF and the two MDC parties.
