Police have appealed to the public for assistance in investigations into two fatal hit-and-run accidents in Harare, as well as reporting juvenile drowning incidents and arrests linked to drug trafficking in Beitbridge.

National police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said that in one of the hit-and-run cases, a 39-year-old man was killed instantly after being struck by an unknown motorist along Dieppe Road near the Sorting Office roundabout on 13 December 2025 at around 8:45pm. The driver reportedly fled the scene without stopping. Police recovered the front bumper of the vehicle, which had no registration plate.

In a related case, a man believed to be around 30 years old succumbed to injuries while admitted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. The victim had been hit by a Toyota Land Cruiser near the Goodhope turn-off, Globetrotter, along Old Mazowe Road on 11 December 2025 at around 9:00pm. The motorist fled the scene without offering assistance.

Nyathi urged anyone with information that could help identify and apprehend the motorists involved to report to the nearest police station.

In another tragic incident, two juveniles, aged 13 and 11, drowned while swimming in a pool at a house along Cleverland Road in Greendale, Harare, on 13 December 2025. Their bodies were taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for post-mortem examinations.

Separately, police conducting operations under "No to Cross Border Crimes" in Beitbridge arrested three suspects in connection with unlawful possession of drugs. Leonard Windo Mahoko (48), Benjamin Kwatapu (26), and Kelvin Chalos (29) were apprehended at Bubi Village on 13 December 2025 following a tip-off. Police recovered 24 kilograms of dagga and 165 bottles of Bronclear cough syrup, each containing 100 millilitres. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.

Nyathi reminded the public to remain vigilant, particularly during the festive season, and to promptly report any criminal or suspicious activity to law enforcement authorities.
