CCTV footage presented in a Kwekwe court has implicated Linas Tshuma in a US$46 000 heist, showing a man dressed in clothing similar to that of the accused breaking into a vehicle and stealing the money.
Tshuma was arrested the same day in Bulawayo while driving a Toyota Mark X, registration number …, which was also captured on the CCTV footage.
The footage was played in court on Tuesday during Tshuma's appearance before Kwekwe Magistrate Mildred Matuvi. The theft occurred on June 4, 2025, at the ZB Bank parking space in Kwekwe CBD. Magistrate Matuvi remanded Tshuma to next Tuesday out of custody.
According to court documents, Kenneth Mapanga had parked his Mazda CX5, closed all windows and locked the doors before entering Fidelity Printers to deposit his gold. He received US$27 000 in cash and had US$19 000 in the vehicle's glove compartment. Mapanga had alerted a city park official to keep an eye on his vehicle before proceeding to ZIMRA offices.
Tshuma allegedly smashed the vehicle's left front window, unlocked the door, and stole the money before escaping in a silver Toyota Mark X, whose registration was captured on CCTV.
Mapanga reported the incident to police, who tracked the vehicle. Tshuma was arrested later that day in Bulawayo, wearing the same clothes as the thief seen on CCTV and driving the getaway vehicle.
