Johannesburg - The Standard Bank in Fourways, north of Johannesburg, was robbed on Thursday afternoon, Gauteng police said.
"Five men entered the bank around 14:00, and ordered the bank manager to take them to the safe," said Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng.
The men stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.
"It is unclear if the men were armed, as no shots were fired," said Mofokeng.
Standard Bank spokesperson Ross Linstrom said trauma counsellors were consulting the staff and customers who were involved.
"The safety and well-being of our clients and staff are a big priority," said Linstrom.
No arrests had been made and police were investigating.
