29-year-old Siyanda Nxumalo from Inanda township, north of Durban, SA, was scalded by his furious friend's girlfriend after they returned home in the early hours of Sunday morning.

"She accused me of taking my friend and introducing him to other girls at the club.

"While I was trying to explain that I did not force my friend to come with me, she pulled out a kettle and poured boiling water on me, burning me terribly," Siyanda said.

He said the woman said she was tired of him taking her boyfriend to clubs while she had to stay home and take care of their two-year-old child.

One of the woman's friends said: "When she called her baby daddy in the middle of the night asking where he was, he switched off the phone. This angered her."

She said the upset woman waited at their shack with boiling water, which she poured on Siyanda when they arrived home.

Siyanda said he will never forget the experience.

"I nearly died. I am still scared because my friend's baby mama can come back and finish me off.

"I don't force him, he likes going out with me all the time. She should have burnt him, not me.

"I didn't know my friend's girlfriend would do this to me. I respected her and took her as my sister. I want her to rot in jail," said Siyanda.

Siyanda was taken to Ematendeni Clinic and transferred to Poly Clinic. He was discharged the following day.

Police Captain Thulani Zwane said a case of assault GBH is being investigated by Inanda police.
