IT SEEMS as if these two burglars had broken into the same place before – and they got away with it. But yesterday was not their lucky day!
The pair were caught and beaten up by the community after robbing a home in Ormonde View, south of Joburg.
One managed to escape but the other lay badly hurt on the road after cops rescued him. He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital by ambulance.
While he was fighting for his life on the road some residents were hunting for his escaped friend. They found him hiding in the ceiling of a nearby house.
The residents ordered him to come down, but he refused. He stayed silent as if he was not there. But the blood that had led them there convinced them he was indeed hiding there, and they waited.
Later they aimed pepper spray into the ceiling and waited for him to come down. He was heard coughing and moving around inside the ceiling, but he was trapped and could not get away.
By the time he decided to come back down police were there to protect him from another beating by the furious community.
Gauteng police provincial spokesman Captain Kay Makhubela confirmed the incident. He said a case of house robbery was opened against the two suspects.
